I went to a wedding last week where they had mikasa crystal accessories on all of the reception tables. On every table were lovely mikasa wedding favors and mikasa crystal glasses. One of the highlights of the evening was when the bride gave up her garter for the toss. Seeing all those men as their excitement grew when the garter was being removed by the groom. Then watching them fall all over each other, trying to be the lucky guy to catch it. One guy didn’t want to be in the garter toss contest, but the other guys persuaded him to do so, and this sweet little widower in his 70’s walked away with the lace garter. The old guy walked away with a big smile on his face.
To toast the bride and groom we were given champagne flutes that had the bride and grooms name printed on them with the date of the wedding ceremony, and we got to take these home as keepsakes of the celebration. After the best man said his speech and we toasted the bride and groom, it was time for their first dance together as man and wife. They looked so fantastic up there dancing together. After their first dance was over, the dance floor was over run with couples. My poor feet suffered the consequences of my all night dancing.
We all wished the bride and groom good luck as they left for their honeymoon. I found out from one of the other guests that they were going to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Looks like their honeymoon will be just as fabulous as their wedding was. The remaining guests stayed behind for hours and continued to party.
I received my thank you note for my gift and my presence at the wedding and reception, after only two weeks. She must have sent out her thank you cards as soon as she got back from her honeymoon. By the way, I did find out how she could afford a mikasa crystal wedding and that fantastic cake topper. In fact, I’m getting ready to place my order right now for my mom and dad’s anniversary wedding.

The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. She picked out tea light place card holders in the shape of silver doves that made the tables shine even more. All the lady guests received small jewelry boxes with sculpted flowers and little crystals to add to its beauty. For the men in attendance, a key chain with a frog prince on it was given to them as a wedding favor. My daughter and son in law had each of them engraved with the bride and grooms name and date of the wedding. The thank you gift my daughter gave the girls was very warmly received. I felt the warm tears flow down my face as the two of them gracefully floated around the floor for their first dance. It reminded me so much of the ball the prince had in the Cinderella story. You would have thought that it was a real princess tossing her garter the way the guys jostled for position to get it; it was a very amusing sight to behold. She promised to tell me all about the great places they went to while on their honeymoon, as soon as she gets home.
